Sleepless Nights They Say...

I can't count how many dads have warned me about sleepless nights once the baby arrives. This is because the couple needs to take turns waking up to feed the baby or look after the baby since they don't sleep straight like us.

What I didn't know was those sleepless moments would start even before the baby comes out :)

Why? Well, as I mentioned the other time in one of my posts, our wives would feel intense pain in their lower backs and as the weeks go by nearing full term, it would somehow get worse before it gets better. So as I mentioned before, remember to give them some good ol' massage to relieve the pain. So lately it's either I sleep later from the time I lie down because she'd ask for a massage, or she'll wake you up in the middle of the night (or in the middle of deep sleep hehe) to ask for a massage because of the pain.

I work at home and am fortunate to at least have my own schedule so I could just imagine how it is for the great dads out there who need to wake up really early to beat rush hour traffic. PROPS TO YOU! Seriously. Coz personally, I get cranky when I lack sleep so I really tip my hat to you guys... claps even!

So there! From one dad to another. At least I was that one dad who told you that the sleepless nights begin BEFORE the baby comes out :)

PS. I'm excited to see the baby already!

Penguin Love

With only a few weeks to go, my wife now walks like a penguin. A penguin I truly love :)

Seriously though. This is just a little reminder to all the dads out there that by this time, our wife will experience really bad back pains so just attend to her more (massage and TLC) and understand the "weight" that she's holding now is no joke. I wouldn't actually want that and I admire moms for taking it head strong!! I wouldn't even want to try getting some heavy bag to try walking around with it because it's far from close. With the weight PLUS the movement inside by our baby, it really has no comparison unless we guys get aliens inside our tummies. It's actually weird already feeling it from the outside how much more when you feel it from the inside! I guess mom's were built that way and I thank God for it!!! :)

As The Day Approaches

It's interesting how time flies. Here we are only a few weeks left before we welcome the baby into this world.

We were talking earlier about the number of weeks and Bernice told me that we have 4 weeks left for the exact number of weeks for the usual cycle of pregnancy. However, that's not always the case is it? It's usually a few weeks after or (with mixed emotions I say) a few weeks before. And so I told her it can be in two weeks!

Boom...

It made me realize now how close we are to that day and how something as light as saying "in two weeks" can be so grand and life-changing.

Slowly, we've become more responsible not just as adults but as a married couple. Now, we take that step into adding to that responsibility as parents.

I'm looking forward to the day with mixed emotions... more like "blended!"

I applaud my parents as well all my friends who have taken that step already into parenthood. It really takes some guts and I tip my hat off to you!

8th Month Calvary

And so we're into the 8th month.

Bernice has been suffering quite a bit from lower back pains that she wakes up in the middle of the night groaning in pain... I know because I wake up from it as well :( Upon talking with other moms, she found out that it's also a common occurence so just be prepared to wake up more in the middle of the night to massage your wife's lower back everytime she asks. I could just imagine the pain... I remember that the only 2 times in my life that my lower back hurt so bad was walking around Singapore and Hongkong. So I could only imagine feeling that kind of pain daily that goes on for weeks. Another thing is because to start with, Bernice seems to have a weak back, which she says came from her college days in drafting as an interior designer so I guess that and the pressure brought by the baby can really be a double dose of pain :(

On another note: She's been back to always feeling sleepy. Doctor says it's just part of the whole process. I've heard from a bunch of people that the last tri sem can be much like the 1st where your wife can experience the sleepy feeling from time to time or exhaustion. So if you're still in your 2nd trisem, enjoy it while you can :)
